Acne mechanica is common in athletes. It is very bothersome for the athletes to develop acne mechanica as it hinders their sport activities. Acne mechanica usually develops in cheeks, scalp, neck, feet and thighs. Athletes refer such type of acne due to over activities and exercise.
Many athletes report that they did not develop any type of acne yet, but it is for the first time that we have developed acne mechanica in our feet, neck and cheeks.
Causes of Acne in Athletes: The term acne mechanica refers to developing acne due to physical or mechanical contact of tight sports clothing. Getting rid of acne mechanica is easy by avoiding tight sport clothing.
The second most leading cause of acne in athletes is the nutritional deficiency. Coaches insist the beginner athletes to avoid from fats and proteins least they should gain weight. To achieve the goal of losing weight, most of the athletes strictly avoid essential dietary substances that lead them to nutrition deficiency.
Most beginner athletes have their normal weight of 140 to 165 lbs, while their coaches recommend them to lose their weight sometimes as low as 120 lbs.
Extremely innutritious diet not only causes acne but also poses athletes to serious health problems such as, anemia, muscle ache, weak vision etc.
Vitamins, minerals, proteins are some common nutrients that many athletes lack. Lack of vitamins and minerals and weak immune system triggers the sebaceous gland to produce excessive sebum. Excessive sebum mixes with bacteria to form plaque and clog the pores.
Prevention of Acne in Athletes: Parents are advised to accompany with their beginner athletes and note the coach's recommendations to their children. If you are unsatisfied with any of its advice, feel free to consult it with your health care professional. For instance, your coach may recommend athletes complete avoidance of foods rich in proteins and fats to lose more that 30 to 40 lbs weight. In this case, do consult with your health care professional and ask him or her, if the coach's recommendations are worth practicing.
Take balanced diet that contains all essential dietary substances in a specific proportion to suite your daily needs.
Skin cleansers are used to remove particles and toxins from the skin. Skin care lotions provide all essential nutrients to your skin.
