Acne is a frequent condition that affects people of all ages, 45% of adults and teenagers. Usually acne development is seen in areas where oil is produced by the skin, the acne problem is created when the sebaceous glands produces excessive amounts of oil that blocks the pores of the skin.

Based on a study by the University of Maryland Medical Centre around 45 million people in the United States develop acne. Usually the easiest way to reduce mild acne is to take constant care for the skin by washing the skin twice and use oil free cosmetics. In case of severe acne it is favorable to consult a skin specialist or dermatologist who can prescribe the right form of treatment.

Many consider ayurvedic herbal remedies to be a healing experience for the body and the mind. Herbal remedies have been used for centuries to treat acne conditions. According to the Indian Journal of Dermatology, Venrology and Leprology, Tea tree oil in particular is an effective herb that gets rid of bacteria and abates inflammation. The Journal mentions a study that was conducted to check the impact of herbal tea tree oil on acne. A gel that contained around 5% of tea tree oil was given as treatment to patients suffering from acne for a time period of 45 days. Patients showed sign of improvement in the condition in contrast to the placebo group. An effective remedy for acne include adding three drops of tea tree oil with one teaspoon of almond or olive oil and applying it directly onto the affected areas twice a day regularly.

Some other effective herbal treatments include the use of burdock for acne. Burdock acts as an astringent that helps reduce excessive oil in the clogged pores clearing the surface of the skin. A quarter of dried burdock roots and leaves should be mixed with 2 cups of hot water; the mixture should then be left for 15 minutes till it soaks in fully. The mixture can be strained, dipped with a cloth and applied directly onto the acne affected areas. For best results the treatment should be applied regularly on a daily basis. It takes a few weeks before improvements can be seen in the condition.

Apple Cider Vinegar is another excellent 'herbal' remedy (if we are taking herbal to mean natural) It works both topically, and as an ingested treatment. If you take it internally just remember to brush your teeth afterwards, as the acid in it is bad for your tooth enamel! Regards, Sam http://ways-to-get-rid-of-spots.com/
