Hormones are considered as a root cause of acne, thats why it is said that liver has direct affect on acne, or you can say that if liver works properly you can get rid of acne. It is a strange idea, isn't it? How can we relate hormones and liver and then acne. But it is true that they all are inter connected. They all have a great impact on each other.
All cellular wastes, used up hormones, and excess hormones are routed to the liver through your lymphatic system. Once in the liver, the liver starts the detoxifying process. If the liver is overloaded with toxins, it will start to store these toxins in its own cells, in the cells of your organs, in your joints, in your skin, or any other place where the body is weak.
Hormones, such as androgens that are not neutralized by the liver, can get back into the blood and move into the skin cells where they pile up and cause an over production of sebum that will flow into the hair follicle. This over production can cause acne.
Now we can relate a myths with this theory that liver affects acne. Like most common myth is that junk food cause acne, we can say yes it is true. Because you eat, breathe, and create so many toxins, the liver has a hard time neutralizing these toxins. Once you stop taking junk food to process toxic food products, you will have a chance of clearing your colon, liver, blood and the blemished conditions of your face.
The liver is responsible for deactivating hormones so their levels aren't too high. This can become a demanding task considering it must also deal with other pollutants such as car fumes, heavy metals, smoke, pesticides and all the other toxic materials that find their way into your body. When that happens some of the load will be dumped onto your liver. One of your liver's main roles is to metabolize pile up fat into usable energy for your body. This means, your liver will be doing some of your kidney's work. So now, your liver gets overloaded and it too will not work at full capacity. What happens when your bowels, kidneys, and liver gets overloaded? When that happen your body will expel toxins through your lungs and skin (your secondary channels of elimination). And this is when acne occurs. This is when your skin starts to breakout.
There are many herbs and extracts that can help with liver function. Liver detox kits can also be beneficial but they are expensive.
