Alcohol as a Remedy for Acne

Acne is identified as a skin problem that develops when the pores of the skin get blocked with dirt and bacteria. There are various types of acne conditions; it can be categorized primarily into 3 types including acne cysts, acne papules and pustules. Nowadays everyone has a remedy or solution to quickly get rid of acne, however there is no guarantee that such treatments are actually helpful. For the treatment to work systematic drugs, over the counter treatments and various acne remedies need to be taken regularly to show any signs of improvement and the results are usually seen after a considerable amount of time. Aside from that the degree of effectiveness of any treatment varies based on the type of acne a person is suffering from and the extent of its severity.

Alcohol can be considered to be an ingredient used in skin care product that help improve acne, it mostly acts as an antiseptic and one can often notice the use of alcoholic swabs that are used in labs and clinics. The downside is that alcohol alone can cause skin irritation as well as dryness, therefore it isn’t a favorable remedy for people with sensitive skin.

According to the health experts alcohol is often mixed and used with Acetone as a toner. It is generally used on the skin after washing the skin with a mild cleanser. The benefits of using this treatment are that it gets rid of excessive oil that blocks the pores of the skin and leads to acne. The alcohol acts as an antimicrobial removing the bacteria within the pores and clearing the surface of the skin.  This treatment can be used up to four times on a daily basis. The liquid form medication can be dipped in a cotton ball and then applied onto the affected areas. The medication should be applied away from the nostrils, eyes and lips and should not be washed after application.
