Body Acne TreatmentAcne is perhaps the most unwanted nuisance around. If not treated properly it can turn out to be a bit of a bother. Body acne is a anatomical type of acne. They consist of red dots or bumps on all parts of your body. Body acne are better then facial acne as they can be camouflaged (hidden) by clothing, but they are a bother none the less.
Our face and entire body is covered with tiny openings or pores. Each of these pores holds a tiny hair (follicle). Sebaceous glands are located at the bottom of each follicle and these glands produce an oily substance called sebum. When this sebum gets trapped, a thin layer is formed which plugs the follicles. Bacteria multiply in the follicle leading to infection or lesions.
These lesions can appear as small white or dark pimples called whiteheads or blackheads, or hard, reddish inflammations called acnes. Stress and hormonal changes are the major reasons for these acnes. Other factors attributing to the formation of these Acnes are tight fitting clothes, heavy perspiration, and regular use of glossy makeup, usage of astringent products or steroid drugs and genetic causes. Treatment methods of body acnes are similar to facial acnes. Some of the steps you should follow are:
- Wash daily with a salicylic-acid-based cleanser.
- Wipe the affected area with a benzoyl peroxide.
- Use gels like Retin-A.
- Oral antibiotics such as Tetracycline or Minocycline and Accutane in severe cases can be taken.
